Dubbo Cheer Academy
(DCA Wolfpack)
HOW DID IT START?
The community club of DCA was foundered by Danielle Fistr (Bentick) a local PDHPE Teacher in 2011 after she had 2 successful years with school cheer groups, she was assisted by Curty Stoddard and Kiarna Daley local school students at the time. The club is run by the goodwill of the coaches at the Dubbo PCYC and is affiliated with Dance Cheer Events association (DCE).
WHY BECOME INVOLVED?
It is hoped that by becoming a part of this club young people not only learn a thrilling new sport and develop lifelong friendships but they learn some values in life that are often overlooked by the people these days, such as punctuality, commitment, reliability, manners, accountability, devotion, compassion, empathy and integrity.
We ultimately have our own cheer family that looks after one another.
HOW WE GIVE BACK
Because we are supported by the community in our fundraising efforts, we also like to give back by performing and volunteering at several local places during the year. We have developed our own event called 'Cheer on Wheels' where our athletes jump on a bus and head out to several aged care homes to bring some joy into there lives and teach our athletes about paying if forward and giving without the need to receive. We have also volunteered at the Community Kitchen and worked with kids from Apollo House.
We are one big wolfpack family at DCA!
DCA has adopted a Wolf as a mascot and therefore has become the DCA Wolfpack. The reason that this was chosen is because of how team orientated a Wolfpack is:
